Skorts and Skirts
Lorna Jane's active skorts for women are a skirt on the outside with an internal bike short lining underneath. Our range are mostly cut to a mini skort length and most of them come in all your favourite colours as well as classic black or white. So what really separates a Lorna Jane skort from the rest of the pack is the features. A few have a pocket in there, sized to take a phone or a tennis ball, and some have a high-rise soft fold waistband with hidden stomach support. If you'd rather a plain skirt with nothing built in, those sit in the skirts and dresses collection.
Every activewear skort here has built-in shorts under the skirt, and the fabric is where the styles part ways. The Liberty skorts are 81% nylon and 19% Lycra, so they stretch four ways and shift sweat off your skin, which makes them the ones to reach for if you're actually training in it. The pleated skorts run LJ Active instead, an 85% polyester and 15% elastane mix that stretches two ways. A few have that hidden pocket built into the lining along with a drawcord at the waist you can pull in, and some are cut with no front seam through the inner short.
A skort is a skirt with shorts built into it, so you get the shape of a skirt with the coverage of a short underneath. There's more than one way to build one, and the difference is worth knowing before you buy. Some skorts are really a pair of shorts with a panel across the front. Lorna Jane's are the other kind: a full skirt over an internal bike short lining, so the skirt is a proper skirt and the short sits under it. Same word, two different builds.
Which sport skort you want comes down to what you're doing in it, and whether you're after the stretchier fabric or the pocket. Tops and bras to go with it are in the women's activewear range.
Some of the active skorts have a high-rise soft fold waistband, with hidden stomach support and a drawcord you can pull in to set the tension. Not every style has one, and the heights differ between them. Check the product page for the style you're looking at.
Pockets are built into the internal shorts lining on some of the skorts, and they're sized to take a phone and a tennis ball. Not every style has them, so check the features list on the product page before you buy.
The active skorts in this collection are often cut to a mini skort length. If a mini is shorter than you'd wear, bike shorts are the better place to start. check out the size chart on the product page for exact hem measurements.
Wash your skorts in cold water with similar colours, and put them in a wash bag. Line dry them in the shade instead of using the tumble dryer. We tailor the washing instructions to suit individual products, so please refer to the label for more detail on how to care for your new LJ.
Always checkout our size charts on the product page to get the measurements for that specific style. Some skort styles have a drawcord at the waistband you can pull in. Your usual size will usually carry across, but check first to make sure.
